4 Things You MUST Do This Spring

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

Things to DO now that Spring is finally here.

Four things to brighten your spring, enliven your cultural step, and add a little fashion to your fabric.

Tateossian Animal Gecko Cufflinks

Take this little Animal Gecko Cufflink as inspiration–make sure to get out in nature at least once a week. This can be a simple stroll in the park, bird watching, short hikes, nature trails, or spending time in your backyard or fire escape lounging. If it’s a fire escape, though, please, watch out for the gaps. Vitamin D is something most Americans are lacking and it’s been linked to many physical and emotional ailments (specifically depression) so make sure you get your daily allotted 15 minutes of sun exposure. If this is impossible, take a daily vitamin. Take the kids to the zoo, see the animals, take a short drive over to the beach or lake….enjoy what mother Nature has to offer.

Tateossian Turtle Cufflinks

Take these Tateossian Turtle Cufflinks little with you for good luck, a bright spring color, and a whimsical reminder of the simpler things in life.

Take a road trip…preferably Jack Kerouac style, but we can’t all hitchhike our way West (or East). This means, letting it all go, packing ONE bag, filling up the tank, and just going. Stop at diners, visit local monuments, spend the night at camp grounds (preferably with showers). This Freeway Green Tateossian Cufflink reminds us of the importance of the open road, the vivid colors of nature, and the sleek austerity of the speeding, moving vehicle. Tateossian designed this cufflink with exactly that in mind.

And while you’re doing all this nature walking and bi-coastal traveling, make sure you bring a compass. Mapquest isn’t accessible everywhere and you may find yourself without wifi or a printer handy. (That’s the point, right?) if you really want to go old school, and have trouble navigating by the stars alone, try this functional Tateossian Compass Cufflink.

Visit a museum. If you are blessed enough to live in a Metropolis, take heed of all the art events taking place around your city. In NYC for example, there is an amazing Stein Collection on exhibit until June 3rd, 2012, featuring some never-before-seen-together Matisse, Picasso, Renoir, and others’ paintings. The collection is one of a kind and a must see. Similarly, at the 42nd Street Library there’s a famous Shelley Exhibit, honoring the life of the rogue/poet/lover/revolutionary Percy Shelley. Whatever it is…go to a museum this spring, preferably on a rainy day, and take in the beauty of Modern Art and public exhibits (normally free!)

Secondly create something yourself. If you’re not an artist, or have absolutely no flair for artistic creation, think of your wardrobe as assembling a masterpiece–carefully select everything “beautiful” from your socks to your cuffs. You will then be a walking Renoir, but since he rarely painted men, you probably won’t have all the curves.

A Little This, Little That: 6 Ways to Stay Looking Good

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

What are six ways to stay looking fresh and maximize your personal appearance? We’ve taken some tips from Askmen.com and put them all together in a grand stew, churned them out, and here we have some top tips for you to mull over:

Tan
And we’re not talking Jersey Shore here men. Just something light and simple, so your blue veins aren’t showing underneath your translucent skin. Try Jergen’s Tinted Moisturizing Lotion that will give you a natural looking tan in about three days. Apply it all over the body after the shower, just lie you would any other lotion, but make sure to thoroughly wash your hands afterwards…if you don’t, you’ll have little orange stains in the crevices of knuckles, in between fingers, etc.

Bermuda 10 Cent Lily Cufflinksif you can’t afford a trip to Bermuda right now, try a tanning bed and these Bermuda 10 Cent Lily Cufflinks

If you have a big nose, part your hair to one side. Of course this only works if you have long-ish hair or enough to at least part. But parting it to one side minimizes the ultra-symmetrical look that highlights your rather large nose and doesn’t put it in the spot light so readily.

Grow a beard. It makes a small chin and facial structure look more masculine. (And use facial hair to define a round face)

Wear colors that complement your eyes (i.e. if you have blue eyes, go for light blue shirts. Green…green sweaters, accessories.)

Chew Whitening Gum after meals. Yes, you heard right. Chewing whitening gum can release/get rid of some of that plaque or grim around teeth after meals. Just make sure it’s sugar-free, because it kind of defeats the purpose if it’s not. And it will add some whitening shine to your 60 watt smile.

Change your razor blades regularly. All that bacteria builds up between the blades and goes right back on your skin in the next use. Shaving also reduces a minimal top layer of skin, so by adding extra bacteria to that new skin, you’re just asking for trouble. Buy extra packs of blades and switch out every week (or four to eight shaves).

Sorel Black Snow Boot

GQ Says: “Sorel boots have been around for ages and everyone clomps around in them in the slush. They’re typically fur-lined, brown, and extremely utilitarian. But when I saw them in all-black and lined in plaid, I thought, That’s the stealth boot of the season. I’m not advocating walking around the office in them in a suit, but I think we all need a bit of style when it’s raining. Even when boots are in style, they can look strictly weekend. But these are chic and simple.”

Made from supersoft, luxurious Italian cashmere in a 12-gauge knit from a world-famous mill. V-neck. Other colors like aqua and purple available form Jcrew.com

Top Christmas Movies

Santa Claus

Tim The Tool Man Taylor as Santa?! It’s like every 90s child’s dream come true to see him all plumb and jolly on the big screen. Too bad Al wasn’t in the film. Plus the little kid was too cute for words “I wanna go with youuuu Dad.” The film as a film isn’t bad either, the acting is decent, good story line, etc. It only starts to get bad when they insist on making a sequel…and then a sequel to that sequel. Good things never last.

Christmas Story

Yes, yes you see it every year. Rapphieee! You’ll shoooot your eye out! Remember to drink your ovaltine?!? You remember these lines clear as last weekend and there’s one reason for that: it’s a classic film. Up there with like, It’s a Wonderful Life. Of course you get sick of it after a while, you dread the 150 repeats on Christmas Day, and for some reason, after all these years, it still gives you a weird little feeling in your belly. What’s with these “kid” films anyways?

Vintage Pistol Gun CufflinksVintage Pistol Gun Cufflinks

Clueless

It’s not a holiday movie or anything, but totally worth watching again on Christmas. Brings back all the warm and fuzzy memories of 1995.

Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer

You know the little animation clay movie thingy, where Rudolph is some whiny, over-privileged deer and that weird Elf just wants to be a dentist. What elf wants to be a dentist? Another strange film, but let’s face it, it helped shape your childhood. There was a time in your young years that you even wanted to be a dentist too…

Home Alone 1 & 2

Enough said.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Oh Clarence! Mary! The children! Zuzu! How blind I’ve been! Ah, gotta love it.

Four Christmases

A surprisingly good new-ish holiday movie. We love it when the guys from Swingers reunite. We can all relate to at least some part of this film…

Elf

Will Ferrell is the man. The classic “Bro” film for the holidays.

National Lampoons Christmas

Oh Chevy Chase! What else can possibly go wrong on your Christmas?

Hunting season is right around the corner

Monday, September 5th, 2011

Since fall is on the horizon that means that hunting season is right around the corner. Hunters always look forward to fall because it gives them the opportunity to get out in the woods and hunt for different kinds of game. For some guys, hunting is just as enjoyable as going to a football game. For others … not so much. If you’re a hunter, then you’re probably an outdoorsy kind of guy who likes getting his hands dirty. You probably aren’t up-to-date on the latest cufflink fashions and designs, either. This also means that you probably aren’t aware that there are novelty cufflinks for guys just like you. We have a selection of Hunting and Fishing Cufflinks that are perfect for any hunter or fisherman. Just because you enjoy casting a fishing line in the middle of a muddy river or hiking through the woods in camouflage doesn’t mean that you can’t ditch the fishing pole or shotgun and exchange them for a pair of cufflinks every once and a while.

Even hunters get invited to formal affairs, so you’ll need a pair of cufflinks to go with your outfit. Lucky for you, we have plenty of fun and fashionable Hunting and Fishing Cufflinks to choose from. The next time you have to get dressed up, snap on a pair of Deer Crossing Cufflinks. Then you can dream about catching a prize-winning deer no matter what boring formal event you are forced to attend. Just make sure to leave your shotgun at home.
