Ocean City, Maryland
By far, Ocean City Maryland is one of the best beaches on the east coast. It’s labeled a “family” beach, but gets rocking after hours. The main beach during peak summer months is fairly crowded, but perfect for people watching, especially on the boardwalk, which stretches for a couple miles. On the boardwalk you’ll find shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, an amusement park, and more. There’s, of course, the standard miniature golf places, but the place really boasts the best MARYLAND CRABS and seafood. Check out Hoopers on your way in on the the main bridge and of course, the infamous nightclub/day bar Seacrets. You can drink in rafts all day at Seacrets, get lunch or dinner, and get your fill of tan, youthful bodies.
There’s also nearby historic village Berlin and secluded Delaware beaches less than a few miles away.
Siesta Key, FL
What to say about this miniature paradise…Siesta Key boasts some of the finest sand in the world, extra white, with bath-temperature like water. It’s not a big party town, but it’s a perfect little paradise to relax, sip a cocktail, lounge with a loved one, and take a raft out for hours to lay out in the Gulf of Mexico. In the evening, the downtown area has some cool tiki bars with a decent nightlife.
Myrtle Beach, SC
Far Rockaway, NY
One of best aspects of this beach is that it’s technically still in New York City. Shocker. Well, we were shocked here at Cufflinksman, because it simply takes about an hour train ride from the Upper East Side in Manhattan and…you’re there. A little secret though…once you get off the A train, make a left around one of the blocks to hop on a city bus that takes you (about another 10 minute ride) to a more secluded, public beach called Fort Tilden. It’s clean, the water is nice, and you can have lunch on 5th avenue, shop at Barneys, and go surfing all in one day. We told you it’s cool to be a New Yorker.
Cape May, NJ
Enamel Lighthouse Cufflinks
Here’s what the folks at Fodor’s Travel Intelligence had to say about Cape May:
“Sunset Beach. Cape May, the southernmost point in New Jersey and believed to be the oldest beachfront resort in the country, is also a National Historic Landmark. There are many vacation rentals and beaches to choose from here, but one of the most charming is Sunset Beach, walking distance from the Cape May lighthouse. Here you’ll find plenty Cape May “diamonds” (pebbles of pure, rounded quartz) that have washed up on the shore, and your kids will love hunting around for them. Be sure to drive—or better yet bicycle—the 3 mi to the south end of Sunset Boulevard for the sunset flag ceremony held from June through September.”
GQ.com recently uploaded their Spring Trend report for 2012–and they hit the mark. GQ Writer Jim Moore features a series of over 100 looks taken straight from the runway and we’ve chosen just a few to highlight here.
The Blue Suit
The blue suit is perfect for spring and well into summer. Just because the weather brightens and the air warms up, doesn’t mean you’re exempt from wearing a suit to the office, partner meetings, and business dinners. Instead of heavy woolen and dark fabric, opt for something lighter like linen, preferably colored in light blue.
The All-American Look
There’s something ultra-classic about a pair of rugged jeans coupled with a jean jacket. Incorporate the new trends with this look, such as rolling up with pant leg slightly and pairing it with a brightly colored shoe.
Striped Knit Wear
Stripes always make a comeback every few years, but this season we’re seeing them on knitwear, which is pretty cool for spring. They are popping up on ties and accessories, like this Nautica look for spring.
The Suede Wingtip
Ah, enough about this shoe already, right? No! The chic comeback of the wingtip cannot be reckoned with. Get a pair, any color, this spring.
Ryan Gosling has won the hearts of women (and men) all over the world. His supreme acting talent outshines many others in his age range and field, and he always has a laid back, confident look that Cufflinksman loves. Here’s a recap of some of our favorite looks that Ryan has sported in recent times:
The grey in the above image in reminiscent or shall we say “premoniscent” (haha) of Fall 2012 Runway shows that we recently saw in Paris, Milan, and New York. Grey is the color of the season (next season that is) but there’s no reason why you can’t opt for a lighter version for the spring time a little early.
The news on the red carpet streets is that ryan is dating Eva Mendes, but the two are making the press and tabloids pretty skeptical about their relationship. Between their outings to cemeteries and Disney Land, they seema little too tabloid friendly, as if it’s all a hoax. Nevertheless, the were recently spotted in Bangkok after rumors swirled about them splitting.
But what about his clothes right?? His staple: the white tee. It’s clean, fitted, and the accessories are just right. The simple white tee shirt is normally coupled with a pair of great sunglasses, eyeglasses, sweater, or nice slacks. Below you’ll find a picture of a simple blue collared shirt with shoes we love!
Again we have that basic white tee, but coupled with a light brown sweater, laid back and loose jean jacket, and…what is that? GREY SLACKS. (Told ya). The thin chain necklace adds a nice touch overall and looks like some kind of spear, bullet, or…sharks tooth?
Now if you are a loyal reader of Cufflinksman’s blog, you will know that these shoes were recently featured in a separate blog. Of course we noticed them way before we ran across this photo of Gosling in some warm, tropical place. This only ensures our sense of style is just as good if not better than Ryan’s. (Hey, we can hope, right?)
We love the fitted pants and tailored dark blue shirt for spring/summer. The shoes make it not too casual/tiki bar and appropriate for a late dinner and spin on the dance floor.
Spring Shades are back and there are some hot new styles to choose from. We’ve selected three that are contemporary, high-fashion, and will perfectly frame just about any face. Of course you should look up those glasses charts to figure out which shape best suits you, but these will do the job. If they’re too pricey, local markets should have knock-off versions for under $20 so you can stock up on them.
The atmosphere of the Mediterranean Island of Capri, Italy, has inspired the Persol Capri Collection. The island’s mix of history, events, culture and nature is what has made it beloved by so many artists, intellectuals, writers and aristocrats over the years. Every handcrafted detail of this havana frame symbolizes the distinctive architecture of Casa Malaparte, known as the ‘red arrow at the horizon.’ Lenses are crystal green. The new Persol Capri Collection is a must-have masterpiece of art.
So the morning after Valentine’s Day, you may have woken up, looked to your left or right, and been somewhat disappointed with the looks of the lady next to you. Don’t worry, this happens. Positively normal. All women can’t be spectacularly beautiful, especially when rising with the sun in the early morning hours. The following women have all woken up on the wrong side of the bed, had mascara run down their dimpled cheeks, and alas, also morning breath. BUT they happen to be some of the world’s most beautiful women of 2012. Because, you know, this list changes every year to make room for someone younger, chiseled, and a better lipo job.
“Sexy is a state of mind.”==Miranda Kerr, Victoria Secret Model
According to askmen.com and our personal poll of patrons, we’ve come up with the Top Five Most Beautiful Women list. Of course we could’ve made a Top 99 List, but who wants to go through a pointless list of the other 94 possibly-mediocre women? (If you would like to see the other candidates, check out askmen.com and see what they think). So without further ado, let’s start with number 5:
Askmen.com says: “How does the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue still compete with all of the sexy photo spreads and porn found online these days? By featuring the most gorgeous bikini beauties in the world. And Kate Upton was 2011’s best find. Upton’s classically curvy body and face full of girlish charm make her an easy choice as a breakout model. Even a video of her doing the Dougie at a Clippers game went viral. If she can make the dumbest dance craze in years look sexy, just imagine what else she can do”
