Alexander McQueen for President!: New York Fashion Week

Words cannot describe McQueen’s new Fall 2012 Collection. Just watch…

Straight from the mouth of GQ magazine contributor Matthew Sebra: “Sarah Burton’s Fall 2012 collection for the house of McQueen celebrated one of the brand’s hallmarks, razor sharp tailoring, and to let guys experience the roped shouldered goods beyond a traditional lookbook the brand put together the above clip. It’s traditional Savile Row menswear meets signature McQueen plays on proportion and pattern and loaded with natty rigs a stylish (and loaded) man could use.”

If fashion could evoke one emotional reaction from deep within our tough manly exteriors, McQueen’s Fall 2012/Winter Sneak Peek would make us cry. Literally, sob, because of it’s sheer beauty, er, um…we meant because of its coolness and yeah, it just looks good.

Here are some of Cufflinksman’s Favorite Looks, coupled with our (much more affordable, but still as stylish) accessories:

We especially love the detailing on this sweater! It really primes the look for the pivotal transition between fall and winter. The tailored, clean blue suit brings out the “rustic” qualities in the sweater too.

Fall Trend Report 2011: Numero Dos

Here are a couple of hand picked trends for this season, featuring beautiful photography and a reinvention of classic looks. Magazines like Esquire show how it’s possible to rework the fashion image of your favorite icon, like James Dean, and bring it into 2011. Also let’s not forget the importance of accessories, in this case, ties and new shoes.

Man in Charge: Bring Back the Suit

Tips from Esquire: Get the Right Fit

If you’re a member of the one-size-up, I-like-my-jacket-roomy club, the DB suit is not for you. The jacket should hug your sides, the sleeves should be cut slim, and the shoulders should have as little padding as possible. The close fit you get with most of today’s double-breasted suits is essential for pulling it off.

Cashmere coat ($4,150) by Louis Vuitton; camel-hair suit ($2,095) by Versace; cotton shirt ($340) by Salvatore Ferragamo; silk tie ($195) by Brioni; leather shoes ($825) by Dolce & Gabbana. Photo by Tony Kim

Tips from Esquire: Give the DB Suit a Chance

Used to be that wearing a suit to work was an act of submission, of following a code. But today it’s more like an act of aggression — that in a world in which suiting up is increasingly seen as optional, wearing a suit, much less one of the new breed of slim-cut double-breasted suits, brands you a maverick. The DB suit is swagger incarnate.

How can I work plaid in with a tie?? Here’s how:

Get it from CLM: It is true that you can’t have enough ties in your wardrobe. The important thing, however, is having classic, good quality ties that will not fall away (or out of style) due to the impetuous tides of fashion.

And where would we be without shoes? I’ll tell you one thing, you wouldn’t get very far. Don’t be afraid of a little color in both the shoes and the pant. We personally love this bright-ish brown hue of these loafers with the blue pants:

Skimming through the pages in various magazines, catching the eye of style gurus on the subway, stopping to idly stare at illuminated shopping windows…all part of our job in the fashion industry. Although it seems that we simply recycle looks, adding a extra few modern touches, we are really revolutionizing fashion daily. Anything and everything you put on your back is a statement, whether you want it to be or not. A statement about who you are, where you come from, what’s important to you…What are you telling the world?

Style #1: 70s Swank

GQ magazine recently featured actor, and Jennifer Anniston’s beau, Justin Theroux in an array of vintage inspired trends. It’s a new, gritty spin on a seemingly over-worked genre of clothing:

Style Trend #2: Khaki Winter Work Pants
Obviously this trend looks great with the previous post about “The Way of the Rustic Boot.” See we know what were doing here. GQ features another easy, wearable, ultra-masculine look: the rustic khaki pant. Pair it up with some rugged boots.

This bag is from Duluth Trading Company, which sells excellent quality products. We recently purchased a knapsack from them and not only is it incredibly sleek, beautiful leather, but durable and well made. We like to think of this brand as a little best kept search in fashion, because the prices aren’t nearly what they could be for these products. Anyways, here’s one of their ultra-cool bags:

Vintage cufflinks make a memorable fashion statement

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Vintage collections aren’t just for women anymore. There are plenty of vintage men’s clothing and accessories that are just as popular and fashionable. In fact, you probably already own a few vintage T-shirts and have them hanging in your closet right now. Vintage is something that will never go out of style, because in the world of fashion old designs and styles often come back around again. It’s the way the cycle of fashion works. Thankfully, there are plenty of vintage men’s accessories for you to choose from, including cufflinks.

Many cufflink designers offer vintage cufflinks or collections, because the vintage category is so popular. Take Daniel Dolce for example, a high fashion cufflink designer with impeccable taste and an eye for fashion. In his unique array of cufflinks, he offers a vintage selection as well. This pair of Daniel Dolce Vintage Cufflinks offers an exquisite design with vintage appeal. If you don’t have a pair of vintage cufflinks in your current cufflink collection, then these Daniel Dolce vintage inspired cufflinks would make a great addition. You can wear vintage with almost anything, but it’s best to sport vintage cufflinks at formal affairs and weddings. You wouldn’t wear vintage cufflinks to a work party or a birthday party. There’s a certain class and esteem that goes hand-in-hand with vintage, and it should be respected as such. If you are going to spend the money on vintage cufflinks, then you should only wear them on special occasions.
