MORE Reasons to Dislike Holiday Shopping

1. The Coupons that Say Spend $25 get $10 off., but the Fine Print Reads: (Does not apply to sale items, clearance items, jewelry, cosmetics, handbags, shoes, clothes, watches, men’s wear, children’s wear, home goods, furniture, women’s wear, or anything in the store. Just throw this coupon away. It’s essentially good for nothing)

2. You Ask for…. a gift box and they give you one 10 sizes too large for your purchase. Then they look at you unsympathetically and say “Sorry. We’re out of the smaller ones. Come back next season.” I mean really, what the heck are you going to do with a coat box for a scarf??

3. You go to the mall the DAY after Christmas and the sweater you spent $50 on is now only $15, the video game you bought your son is 20% off, and literally everything you purchased is on sale. And I’m talking about a big sale. There goes another $200 on…markups.

4. You come across that horrible gift Aunt Zelda gave you in JCPenneys and realize it was only $5, marked down to $2. Thanks Aunt Z. Really feeling the love.

How Many of these are you Guitar cufflinks of committing so far?

5. The unbearable hot flashes you get while shopping because you have not just two shirts on, but an under shirt, a heavy pea coat lined with shearling, two pairs of socks, and a hat (which you can’t take off because your hair is an utter disaster). Then you strip down in the store to just one shirt and have to carry it all the rest of the shopping trip. (If you’re a man, you have to hold all of these layers for the lady, including the heavy coat.) Seriously, where are the coat checks??

6. The moment of panic when you’re standing in the middle of a department store and completely forget 1. why you’re there 2. who you’re shopping for 3. what they specifically asked for a few weeks before. You then proceed to the “candle” section because it’s generic enough and everyone needs another Yankee candle.

7. The moment of panic when you’re standing in the middle of a parking lot, strapped with five shopping bags, keys in hand, and completely forget….where you parked the car. So you idly wonder the parking lot, pretending you know exactly where your going, pressing the “alarm” button on the keytag, praying that you’ll hear it or see the flashing lights, smiling all the way so no one knows you forgot where you parked your car, and eventually hit straight panic mode and start running because you realize you’re going senile.

American Horror Story Has America Hooked

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

The psycho-sexual thriller American Horror Story, which premiered this season, has everyone absolutely hooked on Wednesday nights. If you’re not one of them, you will be! The show quite brilliantly synthesizes a little bit of everything that appeals to the modern late night American TV viewer: sex and beautiful women, house terror, thrills and suspense, infidelity, ghosts, murder (and more murder), myth making, suburban towns, curses, teenage angst, suicide, psychiatrists gone mad, doctor’s wives going mad, drugs, and we’re still counting.

The Harmons, American Horror Story

American Horror Story revolves around the Harmons, a family of three who moved from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The creators have Nip/Tuck and Glee have their paws in the creation of this intense new series.

Who is the guy in black latex? What’s up with that neighbor or shape shifting/sex crazed maid? What will psycho ex-girlfriend college student dead girl do next? These are the questions that probe all of us watching! Yes, some have been answered, but every week it leaves us wanting more. And for those of you watching, all I can say is, the brain thing?? Whoa.

One obvious thing about the show is the acting is superb. A fresh breath of air for all the over-saturated, under budgeted TV shows out there. Jessica Lange‘s character Constance is chilling, elegant, and completely embodies a deeply troubled Southern mother. Her performance is near perfect in every scene.POPPED SQUARED CUFFLINKS

Frances Conroy who plays the tantalizing maid Moira, was last seen in Six Feet Under, and her traditional soft-spoken, domestic character comes full circle with creepy and haunting consequences. And surprisingly, newcomer to Hollywood Taissa Farmiga, who plays the angst-y independent teenager, is another brilliant feat to the show: her performance speaks volumes for the disembodied youth of America.

America’s Most Haunted Places

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

People always wonder: are ghosts real? Paranormal TV presents a very interesting series on America’s Most Haunted Sites. Some of the stories are pretty eerie, so sit back and relax…if you can.

Manhattan Bistro, New York, New York
Manhattan Bistro, located at the ultra-trendy section of Soho at 129 Spring Street, is a French restaurant known for its famous ghost Juliana Elmore Sands. She was reportedly killed in the building in 1799 when her body was thrown into a well in the basement. Her spirit is often referred to as the “Ghost of Spring Street,” and can be seen as a vapor rising from the kitchen floor, occasionally scattering dishes and throwing ashtrays.

Moundsville Penitentiary; Moundsville, West Virginia
Moundsville Penitentiary, located in West Virginia, has a history of being one of the most violent prisons in the United States. Around 1,000 inmates have made their way to this location and were holed up in cramped quarters. Many of the prisoners were hung or executed in the electric chair, but some were murdered by their fellow inmates, especially due to the excessive riots. Built over 100 years ago and closed in 1995, the tortured ghosts of the inmates are thought to be still trapped behind the jail bars, and visitors report to have seen and heard them on tours.

Legend has it that this former Kentucky hospital is haunted by the ghosts of some of the thousands of ill-treated tuberculosis patients who died here in the mid-1900s. Stanley Hotel: Estes Park, Colo.

FROM their official website: “These famous spirits include Michael, the Irish stonemason who fell to his death while building the hotel in 1885, Theodora, the cancer patient of the Dr. Baker hospital days who seems to need help finding her room key, Norman Baker in his white suit and lavender shirt, Morris the cat, a mystery patient in a white nightgown who appears in the luxury suites at the foot of your bed or any of the innumerable “spirits” who have been captured by the thousands of guests and hundreds of thousands of images captured while roaming the halls of this world famous hotel.

Investigated by the Sci-Fi Channel’s Ghost Hunters, the hotel has also been featured on NBC’s Today Show, A&E’s Haunted Road Trips, USA Today and most recently the Bio Network’s My Ghost Story, the hotel continues to gain popularity as the legend continues.

Enamel cufflinks are for smooth guys only

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

As far as cufflink material goes, silver and gold are the most popular materials. But the beauty of cufflinks is that they can be made out of almost anything these days. In fact, there are even cufflinks that are made from recycled materials, which is good for the earth and for fashion. But one of the most durable and attractive cufflink materials is enamel. The combination of powdered glass and high levels of heat create this glass-like material that we call “enamel.” With a smooth enamel surface, enamel cufflinks shine from across the room and gleam in the sunlight.

Because enamel is so smooth and flawless, many high-end cufflink designers use it to create upscale cufflink designs. But you don’t have to be an upscale guy in order to wear enamel cufflinks. The only thing you have to be is “smooth.” Enamel Cufflinks are perfect for any guy who’s a smooth talker and takes pride in his appearance. However, it’s a rule of thumb that every guy should own a pair of Enamel Cufflinks. Lucky for you, we have a wide selection of Enamel Cufflinks available. You’ll find such elegant designs and styles as these Black Enamel Labyrinth Cufflinks, which offer urban flavor combined with a classic black and silver look. Enamel Cufflinks are often finished with a smooth and glossy coating, to help preserve the shine and protect them from all-weather elements. So you can be sure that your Enamel Cufflinks will keep you looking and feeling “smooth” for years to come.
