GQ.com recently featured a collection of must-have bags for fall 2012. But we’re thinking in terms of a more transitional fashion sense, like from winter to spring. Taking inspiration from GQ writer Matthew Sebra, we’re proud to feature the coolest, most functional bags this season (and next). The best part is, the all seem to be made impeccably, and many are classics, ensuring your purchase won’t be short lived.
Here are the Best Bags from New York Fashion Week:
Nothing is better than a beat-up, vintage inspired rucksack (nothing beside, let’s say, cufflinks of course…) This season we’ll be seeing a lot of canvas/wool blends mixed with leather accents. The great thing about this is it keeps the weight of the bag on the lower scale.
Fun, playful, and still latching onto Spring and Summer, these no-hassle, yet elegant, totes from John Bartlett are perfect for the seasonal transition. It came go to the office, as well as the beach, and we love the little details consisting of red and white stripes. Reminds us of our own fun accessory we like to call the Red Mint Cufflink…
As we reported in our earlier blog, entitled “Three Designers We Adore,” Joseph’s Abboud’s fall collection is stunning. He may even take the prize for NYC Fashion Week’s Best Runway show (in our book anyways). And as always, pair Abboud’s collection with anything from Aymara this fall season. The juxtaposition of light airy Butterfly Cufflinks and sturdy canvas bags will fit the aesthetic season.
Bastian’s collection also made our blog pages last fall, featuring orange James Dean inspired looks. Remember our “Fall Trend Report 2011: Numero Dos”? Now we couldn’t help feature his 70s meets French Decadence inspired bag for this year’s new Fall collection. And pair this decadent bag with these Chainsaw cufflinks:

Johnny Depp showed up on the red carpet looking ultra suave this year at the Golden Globe awards. He donned a very trendy post-John Lennon round glasses that complemented his shaggy, “I’m here to present and leave” hair style. Surprisingly, he brought something else with him that night–no it wasn’t a new lady friend but it was a very noticeable European accent.
How can you get the look of this fashion icon of 2012 (and beyond!)? Start with a simple pair of classic cufflinks, like these Mother of Pearl Checkered Cufflinks by CLM. and add a nice, tailored suit like the one below from BOSS.
According to Just Jared: While on stage, the 48-year-old actor had an exchange with host Ricky Gervais about last year’s film The Tourist. Ricky asked if Johnny had seen the film yet, to which Johnny replied, “No.” Johnny took the joke in good spirits!
Johnny and his long time girlfriend, actress Vanessa Paradis, have two children together and spend the majority of their time living abroad (hence the acquisition of an accent). According to Wikipedia, the family divides its time between their home in Meudon, located in the suburbs of Paris, Los Angeles, an island he bought in The Bahamas, and their villa in Le Plan-de-la-Tour, a small town 20 km from Saint-Tropez, in the south of France. Depp also acquired a vineyard estate in the Plan-de-la-Tour area in 2007.
Johnny received the majority of his commercial success in the film “Pirates of the Caribbean” where he played America’s beloved favorite character, Jack Sparrow. The movie went on to developing many sequels, all which maintained top box office sales. But some of his enormous acting ability can be seen in films like “Blow,””What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and cult favorite “Edward Scissorhands”.

Sorel Black Snow Boot
GQ Says: “Sorel boots have been around for ages and everyone clomps around in them in the slush. They’re typically fur-lined, brown, and extremely utilitarian. But when I saw them in all-black and lined in plaid, I thought, That’s the stealth boot of the season. I’m not advocating walking around the office in them in a suit, but I think we all need a bit of style when it’s raining. Even when boots are in style, they can look strictly weekend. But these are chic and simple.”
